Neighborhood and Community Beautification

CRCD’s South LA Beautification Team (SLABT) has nine crews that collectively remove 80,000 square feet of graffiti and dispose of 5 tons of trash per week. SLABT contributes to public safety and improves the appearance of our local streets every day in South LA. We are environmentally friendly, using the latest water-conservation methods and non-toxic cleansers. We hire local youth and young adults to join the SLABT crew and help make South LA cleaner and safer for all of us.

Graffiti Abatement
Our graffiti abatement crews follow a 30-50 mile daily route covering 12 square miles in Los Angeles City Council District 9. With high crime rates and 55 known gangs along our route, we remove 80,000 square feet of graffiti per week. Our daily route includes commercial corridors and residential streets. We also respond to calls from residents, businesses, the City Attorney’s office, the Los Angeles Police Department, and the City Council office.

Our crews use high-tech power-washing and painting to remove and cover graffiti. We capture, filter, and re-use our water from block to block, preventing the release of dirty water into streets and storm drains. We use non-toxic citrus-based cleansers.

Bulky item Pick-up
We collect and dispose of 5 tons of trash and bulky items public alleys, streets, and sidewalks. We cover commercial and residential areas in Los Angeles City Council District 9. We pay special attention to hot spots and requests from residents, businesses, the City Attorney’s office, the Los Angeles Police Department, and the City Council office.

Business Corridor Maintenance
We provide business corridor maintenance along a 2-mile stretch of Central Avenue, from Washington to Vernon Boulevard. Our full-service exterior maintenance includes high-tech power-washing and steam-cleaning to remove grime and gum from public sidewalks, emptying of public trash receptacles, sweeping, and clean-up of weeds and tree wells in public spaces. Our clean-up efforts help to promote a business-friendly environment for local merchants and their customers.

Special Events
CRCD provides maintenance, clean-up, and security at community events and cultural festivals such as the Central Avenue Jazz Festival, the South LA Bolero Festival, and the Mayor’s Day of Service. We provide similar services at health fairs, block parties, mural projects, and other events.
