What is Sustainable Communities?

The Coalition for Responsible Community Development's Sustainable Commu-nities Initiative is a collaborative effort including Vernon-Central's residents, schools, businesses, non-profit and community based organizations, churches, and law enforcement agencies. As lead agency, CRCD is working with our partners to address challenges in our community, which prevent residents from finding opportunities to thrive. Our public affairs and funding partners are Opportunity Nation (Be The Change, Inc.) and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation.

Central Avenue Targeted Initiatives

The Central Avenue business assistance efforts were led by CRCD and started by the Central Avenue Collaborative, which is a working group including Bowers & Sons Cleaners, Los Angeles City Council District Nine, Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Police Department – Newton Area, Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, Community Development Technologies Center, and CRCD.

CRCD continues to work with partners to promote small business retention, growth, area public safety, and community branding on Central Avenue. The Sustainable Communities Collaborative is committed to working together in the coming years, to strengthen and support the Central Avenue Business Association "CABA".

If you have questions regarding CABA or the Central Avenue Commercial Corridor Revitalization Initiative, please contact Johnny Andrade at 213-743-6193 or via email to jandrade@coalitionrcd.org
